First day in School After admission he came to class carrying a drawing board, a shading box and drawing paper. He was taught the importance of tones with simple plastic cubes, cylinders and spheres which were placed against a white screen. The learner began with free hand drawing, then shading. Three aspects of natural light; incidental, reflected and diffused. The exercise took several days to complete. With the written approval of the principal, he proceeded to time drawing or shading of foliage and antique cast. They were four friends- Pestonji, Maneckshaw, Abalal, and Dhurandhar - graduates from Chitre Kathi to Magic Lantern and then Photography.
