1936 - 38 Making of 'Gangavataran' – Transporting the Himalayas to Kolhapur by whitewashing the Sahyadri mountain range. Dadasaheb Nimbalkar calls Phalke and plans Gangaavtaran at Kolhapur Cinetone.

1936 – 5 March, Baburao Pendharkar, Master Vinayak, Mumbai cameraman Pandurang Naik leave Kolhapur Cinetone and form Hans Pictures. They make Chaya, based on a story by V S Khandekar, which wins the Gohar Prize, in the same year. Around this time, Dadasaheb Nimbalkar makes his Swarajya Seemevar, written by Bhalji Pendharkar. Other films are being made in Kolhapur at this time. Sardar Balasaheb Yadav forms Chatrapati Cinetone and makes some talkies – Kurukshetra, Santaji Dhanaji, famous because of their battle scenes.
