Sairandhri was made again by Prabhat, as a huge talkie, again made totally in Kolhapur. In this period, Shantaram, as director, Baburao Pendharkar and Master Vinayak, Miss Leela and Durga Khote as actorscame to the fore in Kolhapur. Due to electricity problems in Kolhapur, Prabhat decides to shift to Pune.

The court of Chatrapti Rajaram Maharaj decides to start its own studio and on 1st October 1933, opens Kolhapur Cinetone. Dadasaheb Nimbalkar takes over the running of the studio. Bhalji Pendharkar takes over as the director and Miss Leela, Baburao Pendharkar and Vinayakrao work as actors.

There was no place for Baburao painter in Kolhapur Cinetone. So Chtrapati Rajaram Maharaj’s sister, Srimanta Akkasaheb, took the initiative to start Shalini Cinetone, at the west of the Rankala lake and gave the main post to Baburao painter. Through this company Baburao made Usha, Savkari Paash and Pratibha. Savkari Pash was being remade as a talkie, but Baburao did not give undue importance to dialogues. At this time, H M Reddy and Pulaiyya, people being recognized as the father of the Tamil Nadu film industry had come to study film under Baburao.

In Pratibha, the film, well known actors of the time, Nanasaheb Phatak, Vishnupant Aundhkar, Keshavrao Date and Durga Khote had acted but inspite of this, the audience coud not understand the film and it flopped. At this time the Bal Gandharva Natak company has closed down. After Pratibha, Baburao painter took up a peculiar task.

By this time, Bal Gandharva was still taking on some female roles but general opinion was that he no longer looked as beautiful as he did earlier. Just so that there would be some memorial of his work, Baburao agreed to make a film and Baburao Ruikar agreed to finance it.
