1932 – Prabhat's Ayodhecha Raja is a talkie and a runaway hit. Kolhapur's Star Cinema has people coming in bullock carts from far off villages and camping outside the theatre for two days to watch the film. 1932 – Prabhat's Agnikankan and Maya Matchindra

1932-33, Prabhat film company went to Pune and the Maharashtra film company closed down. Balasaheb Yadav opened the Chatrapati Cinetone at the same place. He made two films but even Chatrapati cinetone closed down soon. It seemed as though the film tradition in Kolhapur was over. At that time, Rajaram Chatrapati, came to the rescue and started Kolhapur Cinetone under his with his friend, Major Dadasaheb Nimbalkar. This later closed down with the making of Gangaavtaran by Dadasaheb Phalke.

Baburao Ruikar started a cinema theatre, Royal Talkies.
