1939 – the first children's film, Bal Dhruva, is made by Raja Pandit, a theatre practician from Hans Pictures

Baburao Pendharkar and Master Vinayak invite Savarkar to Kolhapur, where he stresses the importance of giving swadeshi names to the film credits. Kolhapur poet Madhavrao Patwardhan and Savarkar translate, talkie into Bolpat, and other credits into "Chaya, Dhvani, kala, Sankalan, Digdarshan" become the norm for Marathi films.
