Kartiki Purnima Utsav

Shiva killed his megalomaniacal demon devotee, Tripurasura - and destroyed the three cities of the demons, made of various precious metals, made impregnable by a boon from Shiva himself, three cities called Tripuri- on this day. A festival to mark this day is celebrated on full moon day in the month of Kartik, on the first full moon after Deepawali. People bathe in the Ganga on this day.
