1913 – After a trip to Mumbai with his father, where Anandrao sees Raja Harishchandra, he thinks of making his own films.Anandrao Painter (Mistry) and Baburao Painter start Maharashtra Cinema, in collaboration with Baburao Ruikar, to show English films. Before this Anandrao has attempted another such venture with Deccan Cinema in collaboration with Shankarrao Vashikar. Maharahtra Cinema is inaugurated by Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj, who has had a huge impact on the development of the arts in Kolhapur.
