Parsee theatre had grown out of new viewership habits- Indians watching English plays. Parsee theatre used Indian dances, Indian stories, but many conventions of the English plays. The proscenium theatre, large painted backdrops, terrific mechanical and smoke effects to create effects of the fantastical on stage, the chorus, were all conventions borrowed and adapted from these plays.
