Akashwani, the first film of Kolhapur Cinetone, is released in Bombay. Bhalji Pendharkar leaves the unit of Kaliyamardan and Dadasaheb Nimbalkar takes over the direction of the film. Master Vinayak take over the direction in Kolhapur Cinetone and makes films with a social message like, Vilasi Ishwar

Rajbhagini Shrimanta Akkasaheb Maharaj takes the initiative to start a studio for Baburao Painter, who has not been able to make any film in the meantime. Shalini Cinetone is establised in Kolhapur. Painter makes Pratibha, a Hindi-Marathi talkie, and Usha. But he also remakes Savakari Paash as a talkie, one of the first realistic films of its times. Painter introduces Chandrakant, an actor and Vishnupant Aundhakar, a writer to the Hindi Marathi film industry.
