Sairandhri, the first film, made out of Indian technology comes out, with the female characters being played by women. Sushilabai and Anusuyabai play the parts of Sudeshna and Sairandhri. Mallavishrad Sardar Balasaheb Yadav plays the role of Bhim and Jhunjarrao Pawar plays Keechak. To show that Jhunjarrao was not actually killed in the film as Keechak, he had to be taken to Bombay and produced in front of the censors.
